We went on a tour to Silk route arranged by Denzong. I am simply not satisfied with their service. The itinerary printed on our receipt was changed without providing information to us. We were informed by the driver that we would have to stay at Lingtam instead of Padamchen.
We had to face problems regarding availability of transport in spite of booking well in advance and making full payment according to the rules. We were told that the problems faced were due to the occasion of Dussera which appears to be a lame excuse to me as the day of Dussera was known much before. It will not be an exaggeration if I say that our experience at Hotel Silk route Station in Aritar was horrible - bed sheets were untidy, there was not enough staff. Particularly disgusting was the fact that they were not able to serve the dinner (the menu was simple- chapatis and chicken curry) even at 10pm.
Some ladies of our group were gracious enough to help the hotel staff in the kitchen. And then only they started serving dinner to the children in our group at 10.20 pm !!!! We had to check in a homestay at Nimachen (not Padamchen) which was at a height from the road, many steps (approx 50) had to be climbed and that was not a proper staircase either. Aged people in our group had problems to reach the homestay.
However the behaviour of and the service provided by the hosts of the Nimachen homestay was very nice. And another fact worth mentioning is that one of the two cars hired by Denzong to take us from Sillurygaon to NJP arrived so late that some people of our group were almost missing the train.
They could board Kamrup Express literally at the last minute. My overall experience with Denzong was bad.
